A notable example is David Tecchler, the German-born, early 18th-century violinmaker, a contemporary of Strad and Guarneri, who trained in Rome and worked there making concert-quality instruments still used by soloists today. This Gewa model pays tribute to these cultural ties with a textured antique finish, select spruce, Bosnian sycamore maple, and careful German craftsmanship.
